Chapter 02 : Obsession
Song: "Obsession" by Animotion

The figure stood silently in the shadows, watching, waiting. Vegeta’s form twisted and bounced around the small clearing deep in the forest, training hard as he had every day since that bizarre night…the night of passion he had shared with his fellow saiyan…the night he had broken the man’s heart. Since that night, Goku had tried to approach Vegeta, the last occasion being the most disturbing. The strong warrior had been in tears, nearly begging Vegeta to talk with him, spar with him…anything; but Vegeta had remained strong, not allowing his feelings to surface as he told the man, for the last time, to leave, and to never come back. That had been nearly a month ago.

Lately he had begun to feel unease, though he couldn’t exactly put a finger on why; everything seemed normal, and even better than normal in some cases. He was finally getting along with his son, and actually looked forward to their nightly dinners together; though the past few nights, the boy had his best friend joining them, something that annoyed the prince desperately. If his son’s friend had been anyone other than Goku’s youngest son, it wouldn’t be such a problem; and if Goten didn’t resemble his father so much, it would be even less of one.

A look of pain had crossed his face the night before, as the three of them sat at the table, large dishes of aromatic food placed before them. The two demi saiyan’s dug into the food immediately, something Vegeta couldn’t help but smirk at; however, as he dished his own meal up onto his plate, his eyes fell to the dark haired boy, who was oblivious to anything around him at the moment as he slurped and gulped his food down, a goofy smile perched upon his lips, his eyes wide and dark. So much like his father. The thought had stung Vegeta, the pain spreading not only through his heart, but his pride.

He paused in his training as the memory flooded him, using the moment to wipe the sweat from his brow. Goku stood in the forest, carefully concealed behind a row of thick bristled bushes, his ki suppressed and hidden from the saiyan prince. His eyes were glazed, dark circles framing them as if he hadn’t slept. Which he hadn’t. His shattered mind simply wouldn’t allow him the rest. The past month, Goku had slowly retreated into himself, locking himself into his bedroom for long periods of time, barely sleeping, eating or even conversing with his sons. He could not think about anything except Vegeta; Vegeta was on his mind every waking hour, and even when he managed to sleep, the saiyan prince haunted his dreams. A few weeks ago, Goku had followed Vegeta’s ki to a small clearing in the forest, and had watched him train, his heart bleeding torrents of fresh blood, his soul screaming it’s pain without sound. Every day he followed the prince, his ki completely hidden from the other man; sometimes he watched him train, sometimes he watched as the man seated himself in deep meditation. Other times, Goku would sneak into Vegeta’s room at night, watching the small saiyan sleep, marveling at how relaxed and innocent he looked without those hard lines around his features.

“I…I don’t understand…” He whispered to himself sadly, tears streaming down his pale cheeks, completely unnoticed. Tears were something that came freely to him lately, he didn’t pay much attention to them anymore. “Why…..?” He trailed off, his eyes glazing more so as he stared into the clearing. He had tried to stop this madness, many times now. But nothing seemed to fend it off; nothing sated the building insanity he felt deep within his bones. He had defeated the man in battle time and time again…had shown his strength, proved himself to the small prince; but nothing had worked in the long run, it didn’t matter how strong he was, or how often he had beaten the prince. His prince had denied him, cast him off like a pair of old grungy shoes…but he was determined not to lose this battle. No…he couldn’t. Not if he wanted to hold on to the last thin tendril of sanity he possessed, and certainly not if he wanted to regain the sanity that had been shattered. He knew that those pieces of delicate matter could be glued back together…if only…

You are an obsession
I cannot sleep
I am your possession
Unopened at your feet
There's no balance
No equality
Be still I will not accept defeat

Goku blinked out of his daze as Vegeta began his training again, his movements fast and precise, looking as if he were performing a bizarre animalistic dance of battle. The small man bounced gracefully off a tree, turning in the air and flipping, his legs straightening slightly before landing with a small “tap” sound upon the ground, his breath coming in soft pants. Goku cringed slightly, acknowledging briefly what the peepshow was doing to his body.

The smaller saiyan wore nothing but tight fitting blue pants and tennis shoes, his bare chest glistening with sweat as the rays of sunshine beat down upon him, slowly adding to Goku’s growing excitement. The large saiyan watched from his hiding spot on the sidelines, his brows slowly drawing themselves together in a deep scowl, his eyes taking on a wide, almost-crazed look as he licked his lips hungrily. Slowly and silently, he began making his way towards his prey, the saiyan prince completely oblivious to Goku’s presence.

I will have you
Yes, I will have you
I will find a way and I will have you
Like a butterfly
A wild butterfly
I will collect you and capture you

Vegeta stopped, bending to brace his hands upon his knees. He shook his head softly, knowing that training simply wasn’t going to work today, thanks to that low class idiot that kept plaguing his mind. His look of anger turned to confusion as, once again, a feeling of unease built in his chest, this time stronger than the time before. His eyes lifted to the sky immediately, as if to look for some unseen enemy; of course, there was nothing there but blue sky. So, he was surprised to say the least when an eerie chuckle sounded from right behind him, so close he could feel hot breath stir his hair, sending shivers up his arms and back. He spun quickly, lowering himself into a defensive crouch when his eyes fell upon the source of the sinister chuckle; he blinked, his eyes growing wide at the site before him.

Goku grinned ferally at the smaller man, his heart racing in his chest from just coming this close to him. It had, after all, been so long…so, so long. His head tilted to the side, his eyes widening in an innocent gesture; Vegeta shivered. Before him stood Goku, in perhaps the worst state the prince had ever seen him. He had heard small pieces of conversation between Trunks and Goten about Goku, how he had become moody and silent, and, according to Goten, was even depressed. Vegeta had said nothing, of course, and shrugged it off with ease, not wanting to admit that he had possibly been the reasoning behind the misbehaviors. Now he faced the man who had dominated his thoughts constantly for over a month, and felt both sadness and fear at the man’s visage. The normally cheerful face was drawn, pale and thinner than it used to be. Dark charcoal colored smudges shadowed his dull, glazed eyes which were reddened drastically, as if he hadn’t slept in days, and had cried a million tears. For some reason, Vegeta didn’t doubt that. A strange smile crept upon the taller man’s lips, something like a cross between a grin and a sneer; before Vegeta could say a word, a large hand shot out, catching his shoulder to pull him close. Vegeta struggled, but paused as he looked back up into those dark eyes, no longer filled with innocence and happiness, but haunted pain and confusion.

His heart felt like ice in his chest as he wrenched his shoulder from Goku’s grip to get away, but Goku was on him in seconds, knocking him flat to the ground on his back, the larger man pressing his body into the ground with his weight. “Baka!” Vegeta screamed in anger, his face turning a deadly shade of red. “Get OFF of me this instant!” He cursed colorfully as he tried to squirm out from under the other man.

Goku smiled, nuzzling his face against Vegeta’s neck. Oh how long he had waited for this! Now if only Vegeta would hold still he thought, before questing out with his tongue to lap at the salty skin stretched beautifully over Vegeta’s throat. “Vegeta, I need you…” He muttered softly, raising his face to nip lightly at Vegeta’s jaw line. “I want you….”

I feed you I drink you
My day and my night
I need you I need you
By sun or candlelight
You protest
You want to leave
Stay
Oh, there's no alternative

“Oh Kami” Vegeta breathed, watching in horror as the light in the other saiyan’s eyes seemed to fade, leaving a glazed madness in it’s place. I didn’t think it was this bad! Kuso, what has happened to him? Has he completely snapped? Vegeta asked himself, his own eyes frantically searching those above him. He cringed as the man above him snarled softly, his head ducking back down to bite and lick at the princes neck. Strong hands moved to pin his arms as the teeth moved lower to his chest, where the biting became more fierce, drawing blood. Vegeta cried out in pain and anger, his muscles straining under the bondage.

He screamed again, but was silenced by lips pressed violently upon his, his mouth captured as the taller man’s tongue filled his mouth, jabbing and lapping forcefully. Vegeta cursed to himself as he felt his body begin to respond, in return he began to squirm even more, managing to remove one arm from Goku’s painful grip. He shoved at the other saiyan’s chest, but didn’t succeed in moving the larger saiyan, or even breaking the kiss. Kami, how much he wished he could enjoy the kiss, as he himself had been dying for this for as long as the other man had, he was sure. But this wasn’t Goku…it simply was not. The shell of him, yes. Where was the Goku he knew and loved? Loved? Where the hell did that come from?! His thoughts were forgotten as the kiss was finally broken, and once again, those haunted eyes stared into his own.

Goku panted lightly from the kiss, his eyes burning themselves into Vegeta’s, a wicked smirk flitting across his lips. “This is another fight you will not win, Vegeta. I’ll won’t let you win. I will get what I want, and what I want is to possess you…feel you…taste you…” Goku broke off his sentence with a groan, his lips brushing lightly against Vegeta’s. Vegeta lay still, his mind reeling at the implications of the broken man’s words. Kami, no…what’s…what’s he going to do?!

My fantasy has turned to madness
And all my goodness
Has turned to badness
My need to possess you
Has consumed my soul
My life is trembling
I have no control

Goku was floating in a sea of whiteness, knowing of little that was going on around him. His pain had been immense, Vegeta’s dismissal had crushed him. He loved the saiyan prince so much, and knowing that Vegeta returned some of those feelings yet still denied him, hurt. To know he had come so close to having everything he wanted, yet still have it yanked away from him…it was simply more than his mind could take; without much warning, it had shattered like glass.

He vaguely understood that the prince was with him that moment, pinned under his large heavy body. Truthfully, he thought it was all a dream, a dream he could only catch pieces of. He had no idea what was happening, but wished he did. He smelled fear, which seemed out of place, for some reason. Why should either of them be fearful? His thought was disrupted by a voice, loud and clear as it bounced through his head. “Kakarott!!!!!” He recognized that voice…it was familiar, yes. Of course it was, it was Vegeta’s voice! But where had it come from? His eyes searched the white bleakness, catching a glimpse of dark eyes. Then they were gone. Goku cursed. “Vegeta?” He called out softly, his voice wavering with fear. He wasn’t liking this dream very much. Another flash, this time, those eyes were filled with pain and fear. “Vegeta….” He whispered, his fist slamming into something as the vision disappeared again.

Goku froze, hearing a whisper of something, skimming past the edges of his mind. What caught his attention the most, was that is sounded suspiciously like his own voice…but different. He couldn’t make out the words, but the voice was angry…with an edge of dementia. The hair stood up on his arms as he quested through the ghostly whiteness, trying to find his way back to…whatever is was he was trying to get to. He supposed waking up from this nightmare would be a good thing. He suddenly stumbled backwards as his arms jerked, Vegeta’s face flashing in front of him, yelling something, something he couldn’t hear. This time, the picture had been broader; he could see the prince’s face and neck, and even the dirt beneath the prince’s hair. Dirt? Why was he on the ground? Was he hurt?

A whine began deep within his throat as he began to panic. What if this wasn’t a dream? What if Vegeta needed his help? “Kakarott! PLEASE!” Goku froze. “Vegeta? Where are you?” He asked, frowning when he didn’t get a reply. He started forward again, his feet taking him somewhere, yet the stark scenery around him didn’t change at all. He gasped as his princes face appeared before him yet again, his head jerking as if he was being shaken. “VEGETA!!!!!!” He screamed, terror seeping into his veins like ice, his whole body quaking with fear. Something wasn’t right. Indeed, something was very very wrong. He could smell Vegeta now…could smell him, and he was close. Tears welled up in Goku’s eyes, in fear and frustration. He needed to help Vegeta, but where WAS he? Why wasn’t he responding?

“Kakarott…please….hear me….please, I know you’re there…AWAKEN!” Goku sucked in his breath. Wake up? So he was asleep! He needed to wake up, his prince…the man he loved with all his heart and soul, needed his help! With a growl, he ran, ran faster than he ever had, sailing upwards into the nothingness, his body hitting a thin barrier, which with the force of his will, cracked and shattered into a million pieces, raining down upon him as he spun out of control in a dizzying bout of vertigo.

His ears were ringing and his mind felt fuzzy as he suddenly realized he was on the ground, staring into Vegeta’s eyes. He blinked slowly as if just waking up from a long nap. His brow furrowed, remembering the “dream”. “V…Vegeta?” He asked weakly, his eyes moving over the man’s face, then downwards. He gasped softly as his eyes fell upon grizzly bite marks spread out over Vegeta’s muscular chest, blood smeared across the mauled flesh, rivulets of crimson running from some of the deeper wounds to the earth below them.

His eyes raised to look into Vegeta’s questioningly when the memories hit him; They rained down upon him like brimstone; bruising, burning and impaling him, making his heart bleed what little blood was left inside it. He saw himself, hiding in the forest…pressing Vegeta to the ground…holding him down, biting him, ripping what little clothes he had, off…shaking the smaller man viciously…looking into those fearful eyes, getting ready to forcefully take what he wanted. Goku’s body jerked with a spasm, a cry escaping his throat as he hopped to his feet, then stumbled backwards away from Vegeta, his eyes wide with horror, tears spilling down his pale cheeks.

Vegeta sat up slowly, his eyes holding Goku’s for what seemed like forever, searching them until he found what he was looking for. Moments later, he spoke. “Nice to have you back, Kakarott.” He said softly before pulling what was left of his pants back on.

Goku shook convulsively, his eyes wide with shock. “V..v..v..v..” he tried to talk, but his mouth wouldn’t cooperate. He suddenly felt very weak, very tired. His eyes drooped, shoulders slumping forward; he was unconscious by the time his head hit the ground.

I will have you
Yes, I will have you
I will find a way and I will have you
Like a butterfly
A wild butterfly
I will collect you and capture you
