Goku was snoozing under a tree with his belt unbuckled and the zipper undone. His stomach was puffed out after a huge meal. Gohan, Trunks and Chichi, meanwhile, were sitting on a picnic plaid a bit farther away from him and playing cards. Even though further into the game they were overtaken by ardor, none of them could ever remember when they had felt so relaxed.

“I didn’t know you wanted to win so badly,” Gohan said softly at Trunks back. He had been stunned to see his lover’s eyes tear up when the game was over and he threw the cards back onto the plaid. Gohan glanced at his mother, but she was shuffling the cards either lost in thought or pretending not to hear.

Trunks shook his head. “It’s not that. I’m… I don’t think I’ve ever been happier. Sadder too. I wish my mom could be here and see this… See it all.”
