It took Goku a good ten minutes to explain what had happened during the time Gohan and Trunks spent in the Time Chamber. Apparently, a new android, named Cell, had appeared, defeated and absorbed both androids 17 and 18. Vegeta and Goku had tried to fight him and failed. After that, Cell had announced the start of Cell Games in a week. He was going to fight every challenger personally.
“So we have a week to get stronger,” Goku summed up to the other two, who were staring at him dumbstruck.
“Why a tournament?” Trunks asked. “What’s with that?”
Goku shrugged. “I suppose he wants more power. My guess is that he will absorb the most powerful opponents while getting rid of the weak ones.”
“What do you mean by ‘absorb’?” Gohan asked, disgust and disbelief on his face. “Does that Cell-thing eat people?”
Goku shook his head. “No. He’s got this tail-like thing that he sucks people in with.”
“Like a snake?” Gohan wondered. “Wouldn’t it then need a week to digest its prey?”
“It’s an android,” Trunks said. “I doubt it works like that.”
“Well, there’s no time to waste,” Goku said, motioning at them. He pointed to the Time Chamber. “I’m lacking a spar partner.”
“I think we’re good for now,” Trunks said. He looked at Gohan, who shrugged. “Where’s Vegeta?”
Goku scratched the back of his head sheepishly. “I think he got pissed off that all that training appeared to be not enough.”
Both Gohan and Trunks rolled their eyes.
“Sorry, but we’ll pass,” Gohan said, grabbing Trunks’ hand. “You’re on your own. We’ll go look at that Cell-thing.”
“And find some decent clothes while at it,” Trunks added.
