Just Desserts

Trunks frantically flipped through the pages of the dessert book. Damn, but this wasn’t easy! He needed the perfect one.

It wasn’t every day you had an anniversary…

He looked at the clock. Four fifteen. Oh my gosh, Gohan would be here in, like twenty minutes. He didn’t have much time. He put the one cookbook back. The recipes took too long anyway. Now, where was that Jell-O cookbook? He hunted through all the shelves, their contents shoved aside, some of them landing on the floor. He couldn’t stop, everything had to be perfect….

He heard the door open, and froze. “Trunks, I’m home!”

Oh, no…. Trunks looked around the kitchen. What a mess. No help for it, even if Gohan could sense it and know something was up. He concentrated, focused his ki, and went SSJ. Then he sped around the kitchen trying to put things to right.

He tried to pick up the bag of flour. Too fast. The bag broke open. Flour scattered all over the kitchen, and all over his anniversary supper. Flour flew everywhere. When Trunks gasped, it flew into his throat and his nose, making him cough and sneeze at the same time. He couldn’t maintain his concentration, not in that state….

A low chuckle from the door made him turn to face Gohan. His face burned.

“You know, you almost look like Freezer right now…” Gohan told him.

“Not the gecko….”

“Nah, you’re cuter, especially when you’re all flustered like that.”

Trunks raised his eyes to Gohan. What? Did Gohan have something behind his back?” Then Trunks remembered… “I ruined dinner. Just when I was trying to find the perfect dessert, too…”

Gohan chuckled. “Dessert’s taken care of.” He pulled his hands from behind his back. The grocery bag was filled with whipped cream, cherries, and all sorts of goodies. “For dinner, we’ll improvise…” He came closer to Trunks and started to brush some of the flour out of his hair. “One thing.. At least, you don’t wear as much lip gloss as Freezer did.”

Trunks reached around and swatted Gohan on the backside. “Silly…”
