Gohan considered this. “Meaning that with someone’s half a life you’d belong to this timeline as well?”

“I guess so.”

“Alright. What does the process entail?”

“Uh.” Trunks raised his head to look at him. “You can’t be serious. Don’t tell me you’re considering…”

“There’s nothing to consider; I’ve already decided. Now, tell me.”

Trunks giggled hysterically. “No. Are you out of your mind?”

“It’s you who is out of your mind if you think that I’d just let you die.”

Trunks shook his head. “Absolutely not. I would never forgive myself for taking half of your life.”

Gohan rolled his eyes in frustration; it was all so simple in his head, and Trunks was starting to annoy him with his reluctance.

“Listen,” he said, “same here. I would never forgive myself for allowing you to die.” He grabbed Trunks’ face and squeezed it between his palms. “I love you, you stubborn ass. I’d rather spend half of my life with you than even a moment without. Now spit out that damn ritual or whatever it is and let’s get to it.”

Trunks kept staring at him from between his palms then closed his eyes, and tears began to flow down his cheeks.

“Uh… What? Why?”

“I’m happy,” Trunks muttered. He freed his face out of Gohan’s grasp and covered it with his palms to hide his tears.

“Are you?” Gohan patted him awkwardly on his shoulder. “Well, it’s definitely not the way I had imagined myself confessing to you, but desperate times requite desperate measures. Besides, I kind of had the feeling that you liked me back and…”

With a lopsided smile on his face and his cheeks wet with tears, Trunks was watching Gohan rambling on. Where the hell was all that confidence coming from?
