When his father started reminiscing about his fight against Frieza on Namek, Gohan figured out at once that this didn’t bode well for him. The chicken in his mouth became bitter while Goku continued to talk about how that fight had pushed him through his limits and he went Super Saiyan. And quite a big influence, apparently, had been the hostile environment where the fight had taken place. The smallest mistake could have been lethal.

Gohan had heard this story no less than ten times already. Usually he would listen with never faltering admiration to the epic fight stories from his father’s past. This time, however, he could only feel anger brew inside himself.

It was no surprise when, two hours later, the three of them found themselves on an inhabited island, nearly inside of an active volcano. Only Goku could have come up with a plan like this.
