Through the window pane, Trunks looked at the astonishing greenery all around him. Had he really arrived at the right place? The mountain was different from what he remembered.

Trunks turned off the controls and climbed out of the time machine. His feet touched the ground, and, suddenly, his legs lost all strength. He was just in time to catch himself on his hands. His fingers gripped the grass, tearing it from the ground. Blind with pain, Trunks punched the dirt. The pain that had shackled his body deceptively felt more physical than mental. Trunks didn’t even understand that he was crying.

Everyone that he had left behind was probably dead by now. They had sacrificed themselves so that he could live and change the past. It was a lie, though. The past was no more. His arrival here had brought the end to his world. The only thing that he had left now was the duty of saving this one.
