Trunks was still on his knees, blindly staring at the ground, his hands pressed into fists. He blinked slowly when he felt a familiar ki right next to himself. His momentary surprise turned into something much bigger when he raised his head and saw a young boy. There was no mistaking it – the boy was Gohan. His Gohan.

“Are you alright, mister?”

The concern on the boy’s face embarrassed Trunks. He quickly wiped his tears and stood up.

“Yes, I’m alright. I’m just…” Lost, Trunks tried to come up with an explanation of himself kneeling and crying in the middle of a forest. “Ehh… I lost my contact lenses?” Gohan gave him a dubious look. “Both of them at once?”

“Ehh… Yes?”

“Do you want to come to my house?” Gohan suggested suddenly. “My mom is preparing lunch. You could eat with us.” He gave Trunks a warm smile, and, instantly, Trunks recognized the kindness he was so used to.
