It was quiet at the breakfast table. Chichi had made breakfast and driven off to town to buy food and clothing supplies. She had invited Trunks to come with her, but the teenager had declined the offer by saying that he would wear anything she picked for him. He had looked so reluctant to go that Chichi hadn’t pressed any further.

Gohan poured himself a glassful of orange juice. After a short thought, he poured another one for Trunks and pushed it closer to his plate. Trunks started lightly and looked at the glass. He squeezed out a grateful smile.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

Trunks poked the food in his plate. He didn’t feel hungry even though he could hear his stomach complaining.

“You should eat,” Gohan said. “You’ll feel better. Everyone knows that a Saiyan’s mood is proportional to the food in his stomach.”

Apathetically, Trunks scissored the chopsticks above his plate. Gohan was certainly right, but he still didn’t feel like eating.
