There is something wonderfully grounding about a Dragon Ball Z lineup with no golden aura in sight. Everyone has to be recognizable through posture alone: Vegeta turned away in guarded pride, Piccolo looming with protective authority, the human fighters still standing as full members of the team, and Goku holding the center through calm readiness rather than spectacle.

Then there is Gohan, small enough to disappear among the adults but already positioned inside their world of danger. That is what gives the image its quiet weight. Early DBZ still remembers that strength came in many forms—discipline, courage, rivalry, loyalty—and that this strange collection of enemies, teachers and friends had not yet fully realized it was becoming a family.

Before transformations made power glow, the characters themselves had to carry the light.
