What I like here is that the image never turns soft. Even in the embrace, Goku x Vegeta stays proud, confrontational, almost feral — pure Saiyan biology under a blood-red moon. Do you read this as desire winning over rivalry, or rivalry becoming its own form of desire?
Which detail defines the mood first for you: the locked foreheads, the tails, or the blood moon?

SSJ4 makes that separation impossible.
The blood moon, the red fur, the tails, the torn landscape — all of it pushes the scene toward something older and less civilized. But the real charge comes from the way Goku and Vegeta meet at the forehead. This is not a kiss withheld. It is not exactly an embrace either. It is the pose of two men who still need resistance in order to recognize intimacy when it arrives.
That is why the picture feels so Kakavege. Goku’s body reads open, powerful, almost luminous even under all that crimson. Vegeta’s reads more compact, more deliberate, but no less intense. They hold each other low at the waist, close enough for the gesture to become unmistakably intimate, yet their faces remain set in concentration rather than softness. Neither has relaxed into the moment. Both have entered it fully.
The tails matter more than the blood moon for me. The moon creates the mythic atmosphere, yes, but the tails make the closeness feel bodily and immediate. They curve behind each man like visible extensions of instinct, reminding us that SSJ4 is not just a power-up here. It is a return to a more exposed Saiyan grammar, where contact looks fiercer because it has stopped pretending to be polite.
So I would not say desire has won over rivalry.
I would say SSJ4 reveals that, for these two, rivalry was already one of desire’s native forms.
The apocalypse-red background helps too. This does not feel like romance sheltered from battle. It feels like battle discovering it has always carried a private center, and that private center happens to look back with another pair of Saiyan eyes.
Under the blood moon, they are not gentler.
They are simply more honest about what the fight has always been touching.
