Erich-Maria Remarque's novel "Im Westen nichts Neues" ("All Quiet on the Western Front") helped us rendering the trenches war and fighters psychology more accurate and we can't deny the original idea for the story was inspired by Violet Evergarden's relationship with Major Gilbert.
